Your Leeds.

for one of my projects this year i've teamed up with my coursemate, ben strickland, to create a series of books about leeds. this is the poster i've created as a call for submissions for the first book in the series (name unconfirmed). we're looking for people's personal images of leeds, be it their favourite place, a place where something memorable happened to them, an event, anything as long as it is significant to them as a person. we're also asking for a bit of writing with the image if they want to elaborate, but this isn't compulsory as i like the idea of not knowing what the image is about and making my own conclusion.

we've had a lot of interest so far with a lot of people keen to get involved. i'm hoping that if we get enough submissions, we could put on an event in a gallery and the submitters can come and view their work along with others.

below is the poster i have created as the call for submissions. i've posted it online and around university and soon will be posting it all around leeds also.

so if you're interested, get involved! any submissions welcome!

Third Year

So third year has officially kicked off and I've been hit with the terrifying reality of how much work I have to do. However, I'm determined to give this year my all and hopefully be proud of myself and my work at the end of this year.

Over the summer I've continued with freelance work and also been fortunate to fit in a 3 week tour of West Coast America!

A project I was working on at the start of September was a hair range for Vicky from Geordie Shore. The project ended up a collaboration between myself and a couple of designers, working on the packaging to create the final product. The hair is going to be available at Christmas time from Sally's Glitz and Glam.

I've also been working on some more Frankie Essex Hair projects and some very exciting things have been happening with them, which will all be revealed soon.

So now it's down to focusing on Third Year projects and getting the grades I want from university. Wish me luck!

The Countess of Chester, Doctors' Mess - Midsummer Night's Ball

Brief: To create posters, leaflets & tickets to advertise a summer ball for the Doctors at The Countess of Chester.

I was told that the event would be called 'A Midsummer Night's Ball' and was a formal event. From this I envisioned elegant advertising with a 'dream-like' feel. The tickets & leaflets all follow this same theme.

Trek America - Time University Brief

For a University brief, we were given the subject of 'time', recording time and how to document time. We were given the example of a calendar. I at first thought of making a calaendar that's always a diary, so you plan your days and then talk about them afterwards. However, in August, I'm going to be going on a Trek America holiday with two of my friends and I really want to document my time while I'm there. So I've taken this brief as an opportunity to create myself a little diary to take with me to record my thoughts. As the project was quite a quick turnaround and with having several projects on the go at once, I haven't time to get this professionally printed before the deadline tomorrow. However, here is my little diary ready to be printed and memories to be recorded

University

I've been juggling my University work and Freelance work a lot recently, and there's a lot of Freelance work on here, so I just thought I'd show some of my photography work that I've currently done for a project about the city. I will eventually be making a zine with a fashion/city theme. I'm focusing on the run-down bits of the city, linking it to recycling clothes. The theme is really about contrasting run down, dirty bits of the city with bright, beautiful things. I can't wait for it to start pulling together.
